Our story
During segregation, Black residents built a thriving community in College Park, with churches, businesses, schools, and places to gather. Airport expansion displaced families and erased much of the neighborhood’s physical footprint.
College View Memorial Cemetery is one of the places that remains. Dating to around the turn of the 20th century, it holds the graves of veterans, educators, business owners, and generations of families from College Park and surrounding communities.

As headstones emerge, the project can record names and burial locations and help families learn where loved ones are buried.
Photographs, records, and memories can help piece together the history of the neighborhood and the people who lived there.
